Welcome Class 1
On March 31, 2025, we launched the first class of the North Metro Police Academy, a significant milestone in our commitment to developing the next generation of law enforcement professionals. This dedicated group of recruits embarked on a transformative journey to acquire the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to serve and protect our community with integrity and excellence.
Academy Staff
Over 21 weeks the Academy Instructors in the Training Unit and members of the Thornton Police Department turned theory into practice and we successfully graduated six recruits.
The launch of the North Metro Police Academy would not have been possible without the dedication of the Thornton Police Training Unit and members of the Thornton Police Department. Their expertise, dedication, and commitment to excellence played a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring we build a proud and lasting legacy for this Department and this Academy.
Congratulations, Class 1
On August 21, 2025, six recruits became officers (along side one lateral) and were sworn into service with the Thornton Police Department. This exceptional group of recruits has demonstrated unwavering commitment, resilience, and integrity throughout their training. As they step into their roles as peace officers, they carry with them the values and standards that define the North Metro Police Academy and the Thornton Police Department.
